((((Bring the RAIN)))))

In Uncategorized on January 24, 2013 at 4:49 PM

This week I addressed the topic of moving through your storm. Arriving at that Stop sign and expecting it to turn green in order for you to proceed and continue to exist but not live as your true authentic self. We have to change or we remain existing in a mediocre life. My final blog of the week deals with the rain that will inevitably fall in our lives. When the natural rain falls, the earth absorbs it and from that there is abundant growth. Rain sustains life, without it we would surely die.

We use umbrellas to keep us from getting wet.  We devise all sorts of ways to keep the rain at bay. I’m guessing meteorologists really can’t accurately predict rain, because there are times it catches us off guard.  I have a friend that dreads rain just because of what it does to her hair…It is hilarious what she will come up with just so her hair will not get wet. She is a fashionable woman but if there’s rain in the forecast she break every fashion rule because of her hair. She will take a Walmart bag and wear it out in the rain. Seriously, if her hair gets wet, it looks like she put her finger in an electrical socket… A Don King “wanna be.” LOL!

Nevertheless, there are two ways to handle rain…We can choose to run from the rain or we can learn to dance in the rain.

Running from the rain is trying to escape the same problems, past mistakes, those could haves and should haves; accepting status quo and simply exist with regret as you better half. Perpetual regret is unproductive living. Here’s how it plays itself out in your mind: you regret a decision, beat yourself up, then regret some more, the play the video in you head of what you would have done or said…then rinse and repeat. I KNOW I am not the only person in this world that has played “that” conversation: Well, when he/she said this…I should’ve said this and then they would’ve said this, and I would’ve done this…on and on it goes. This eventually can lead to anger, shame, guilt, depression, and isolation. Consequently, it will STOP you from taking steps in the right direction. Then FEAR creeps in because now you think you’ll make worse decisions and the cycle continues. Mark Twain said it best, “It isn’t the things we did that we most regret; it’s the things we didn’t do.”

Or you can dance in the rain and live. This is using the problems as opportunities for growth. Your problems, mistakes, obstacles can become the springboard  into your dream. They are the raindrops in your life that will afford you the opportunity for growth and you will eventually be exactly where you need to be in order to fulfill your divine purpose. To be your true authentic self. It is a great feeling knowing who you were made to be and knowing what you’re made to live for. People are so used to complainers, excuse-makers and problem generators, be UNIQUE  become the refreshing rain of a spring day and focus on the solution. Pray the promise, pray the Word of God, not the problem. Whatever your cross, whatever your pain, “God always sends rainbows after the rain.”

Raining might bring a storm but remember rain is also needed to water seeds that are planted for new growth.
