The story of the butterfly
A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole. Then it stopped, as if it couldn’t go further. So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bits of cocoon. The butterfly emerged easily but it had a swollen body and shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch it, expecting that any minute the wings would enlarge and expand enough to support the body and neither happened! In fact the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around. It was never able to fly. What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was the restricting cocoon and the struggle required by the butterfly to get through the opening was a way of forcing the fluid from the body into the wings so that it would be ready for flight once that was achieved.
I read this a long time ago, when I was just emerging out of an ugly divorce. What I didn’t realize was that during the time I was pushing and struggling my way out of the situation, God was watching. He gave me the strength to endure and SOAR. Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. Going through life with no obstacles would cripple us. We will not be as strong as we could have been and we would never fly. It is in the struggle that we build our endurance.
We press on and push on knowing as the butterfly that it will get us where we need to be. We beg God to get us out of the situation, Jesus knew all about this, before He was crucified He ask God, “Let this cup pass, not my will but yours.” HIS CAUSE WAS FOUND IN HIS GREATEST PAIN. Like you…like me.
He wants us strong, He wants us able, He wants us to SOAR. We, don’t know the plans He has for us but in the natural flow of life we develop our strength from our struggles and in our disappointments we are afforded HIS-appointments. Struggling is an important part of any growth experience. It is the struggle that causes you to develop your ability to fly!” Isaiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. Isaiah 40:31,”They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ” ‘
YOU WILL FIND YOUR GREATEST CAUSE IN YOUR GREATEST PAIN.
